We have received reports of the following error from some of our visitors:

ERROR MESSAGE: Network initialization failed. File or directory does not exist. File: C:\PDOXUSRS.NET. Permission denied. Directory C:\

PDOXUSRS.NET must be in a directory for which the user id being used has rights to write to. The best way to avoid this error is to make certain your user id has administrative privileges.

Vista and Windows 2000:

Please go to C:\ using Windows Explorer and right click on the file PDOXUSRS.NET. Select Properties...Security Tab and highlight the user id being used to log into the computer. Make sure Allow Full Control is checked for the user id being used. If it is not, check Full Control and click the Apply button.

Windows XP:

Please go to C:\ using Windows Explorer and right click on the file PDOXUSRS.NET and delete the PDOXUSRS.NET file. It will be recreated the next time a program using the file is started with your user id as the owner of the file.

ALL OPERATING SYSTEMS ALTERNATIVE METHOD: You can also use the following steps to point the location of PDOXUSRS.NET file to a location for which the user id being used is the owner.

1) Start...Settings...Control Panel or Start...Control Panel depending on which operating system is being used.

2) Open BDE Administrator

3) Expand Drivers

4) Expand Native

5) Click on Paradox

6) Populate the NET DIR field with the path to a folder for which the user id being used has write access. PDOXUSRS.NET will be created in this folder.

NOTICE: The absolute best way to avoid this error is to make certain the user id being used has administrative privileges.
